New Orleans

We empower New Orleans youth to be comfortable in their own skin, express themselves freely, and be the best version of themselves!

Lolo’s is New Orleans’ first yoga studio for children, youth, and families. We help children feel empowered and confident by teaching them mindfulness skills and fostering their creativity in a fun, semi-structured environment. We want our youth to grow up with strong minds and bodies as they navigate their individual lives and the stress of this ever-changing, tumultuous world.

Lolo’s Youth Yoga Studio is for you if you want your child to...

  • Tap into their internal power

  • Foster their inner strength

  • Increase their flexibility (physically and mentally!!)

  • Learn mindfulness skills

  • Find their center, focus, and calm

At Lolo’s we’re all about…

Fun

We believe kids need a break from their busy lives, hectic schedules, and the uncertainty of today’s world. That’s why our primary value at Lolo’s is just to have fun! We give children and youth a chance to unplug from screens, connect to themselves and each other, and just be kids!

Creativity

Our art studio is full of every medium and material you could imagine. We emphasize using recycled materials such as cardboard canvases, corks, jars, Mardi Gras beads, and so much more. Guided, child-led art projects result in wacky creations that allow children to explore and expand their creativity!

Empowerment

Youth build strength and confidence at Lolo’s through mindfulness skills, yoga, and art. They learn how to be the “boss” of themselves! Our child-led structure teaches kids how to make the best decisions to support their overall wellbeing.

Mindfulness

We give kids the time and space to slow down and tune into their thoughts and feelings. By quieting their minds they get to know and trust themselves more. We teach children mindfulness skills to deal with stress and anxiety like deep breathing, meditation, and  intentional relaxation.

I don’t know what kind of magic you’re doing in there, but she comes home in a great mood every time she’s at Lolo’s. More at ease, happy, nicer. It makes the whole evening great. Thank you!

What do our yoga for kids programs look like?

Every session at Lolo’s provides kids in New Orleans with the opportunity for fun, creativity, empowerment, and mindfulness through art, yoga, games, and fitness!

We use a semi-structured, child-led, guided approach. Meaning, kids are presented with multiple options and guided to make a decision that best suits them both individually and as a group. No two days look the same at Lolo’s!

As long as they are staying safe and respectful (and having fun!), there is nothing required of them at Lolo’s. We find kids are even more engaged in learning and exploration because they are doing it in a way that is meaningful to them.

I love Lolo’s. It’s my favorite place to be. I hope I get to be here for summer.

ART

Each session has a pre-planned art project for kids to engage in. These are open-ended enough for the kids to explore their own creativity, but structured enough to provide guidance and a jumping-off point. We use mostly recycled materials. Kids also have the option and opportunity to engage in free art time.

Yoga

Yoga is about exploring and learning in a fun, safe and playful way. Kids are guided through yoga practice with registered yoga teachers. The practices can range from power to restorative. We often use partner yoga to teach teamwork, and have a lot of fun! We also enjoy playing yoga-based games such as Yogi Says.

Games

Did you know that according to the Universal Rights of the Child, play is a basic human right? That is how important play is to cognitive, physical, and emotional development! There is plenty of time for games, especially during camp days. We often see kids working together and using their imaginations to create interactive games within their groups. Unstructured playtime is inherently valuable in that it gives “children the freedom to explore, create, and discover without predetermined rules or guidelines.”
